Conscious Consumers Launches in the Waikato

Last night Conscious Consumers launched in the Waikato.  Waikato is the third region in New Zealand that you will find the “Scout” like badges popping up on cafe windows. With 9 badges in total, each representing a different environmetal practice, cafe goers will now know which cafes are actively reducing waste or supporting fair trade.

Loue Belle and George Barrett are the Waikato Co ordinators and have been hard at work talking to cafes in the Waikato area with great success, having signed  Zinc Cafe, Momento, Rocket Espresso Bar and Little River Kitchen.

The launch party was a great chance for these businesses to get together and discuss how they are making their businesses more sustainable, as well as meet some great suppliers who are helping them achieve this.  The great food from Zinc and organic wine from Villa Maria also helped!  Entertainment was provided by a quirky ukulele band, making the night a great event!
